Sunday morning to me means everything but staying in bed and hiding under sheets. Last Sunday my friend and I got up very early heading up for a treat at one of the hottest breakfast spots in town: the Manchester Press. Tucked away in a typical Melbourne laneway, there is always a solid line build up from counter to door. I walked passed quite a few times but couldn't be bothered to go into it until this time.
We early birds got a very spacious table and were served right away. I opted for an open smoked salmon bagel and my friend had a sweet one. When they brought my plate I was impressed by its generous serving size. My bagel was spread with cream cheese and topped with 3-4 large pieces of smoked salmon, with fresh salad on side to balance the saltness. The bagel its own is very dense and chewy. I also had a try on my friend's sweet bagel : warmed banana topped with caramelised honey (or maple syrup?) that adds the depth of the flavour, and it matches perfectly with our chai latte, too. At an average price for only $13, the foods here are so good value for money without compromising quality . It surely has so many adoring fans, without a doubt.
